June was one of the strongest digital months of the season for Paddle Europe, with three European Championships taking place across different disciplines and a significant increase in online engagement across YouTube, Facebook and Instagram.
The 2026 Paddle Europe Marathon Championships played a major role in this growth, generating strong audiences on the Paddle Europe YouTube channel and confirming the growing interest in live canoe marathon coverage across Europe.
It is also important to note that the YouTube figures from the Marathon Championships do not reflect the full live-streaming impact of all Paddle Europe events held in June. The 2026 Paddle Europe Sprint, Paracanoe and Masters Championships, organised earlier in the month, were not broadcast live on the Paddle Europe YouTube channel, as the live broadcast rights for that event were held by the International Canoe Federation. For that reason, the overall digital impact of June could have been significantly higher if all live coverage had been hosted on Paddle Europe’s own platform.
During the selected YouTube analytics period, the Paddle Europe channel recorded 67,834 views, with viewers accumulating 21,918.9 hours of watch time. The broadcasts also helped the channel grow, adding 280 new subscribers during the same period.
One of the strongest indicators was the quality of the audience engagement. Across the marathon broadcasts, the average view duration reached 19 minutes and 24 seconds, showing that viewers were not only clicking on the live sessions but staying connected to the racing action for a significant amount of time.
The event also reached 19,354 unique viewers, while the live content generated 205.6K impressions and an excellent 19.7% impressions click-through rate. These numbers underline the strong visibility of the Championships and the interest created by the event within the European canoeing community.
The four competition days delivered consistent audience figures. Day 3, on Saturday, was the most watched session with 17,798 views, followed closely by Day 1 with 17,609 views. Day 2 reached 15,914 views, while Day 4 closed the Championships with 15,124 views.
The Saturday session also generated the highest watch time, with 7,015.5 hours watched, while Sunday recorded the highest click-through rate, with 27.3%, showing strong interest from users who were reached by the content. Thursday’s opening day was also particularly important for channel growth, bringing 67 new subscribers, the highest daily subscriber gain among the four marathon live sessions.
The audience was spread across several major canoeing nations. Spain led the viewership with 14,554 views, representing 21.5% of the total YouTube audience. Hungary followed with 6,822 views, Portugal recorded 6,013 views, and the United Kingdom added 5,546 views. Romania, Italy, Denmark and Germany were also among the main audiences.
The United Kingdom stood out for engagement, with an average view duration of 27 minutes and 45 seconds, while Denmark also recorded a strong average view duration of 24 minutes and 30 seconds. These figures show that the marathon broadcasts attracted not only high viewing numbers but also a dedicated audience following the races in depth.
The strong YouTube performance was part of a wider digital growth period for Paddle Europe during the month of June. Across Facebook and Instagram, Paddle Europe content generated almost 1.6 million views, with 1,359,308 views on Instagram and 221,938 views on Facebook.
The final week of June, during the 2026 Paddle Europe Marathon Championships, was particularly strong. Between 23 and 29 June, Paddle Europe’s social media channels recorded around 650,000 views, showing the immediate impact of the marathon event on the federation’s digital platforms.
The wider social media data also confirmed strong community engagement. During the analysed period, Paddle Europe recorded 12.7K content interactions, an increase of 469.7%, while Facebook visits reached 13.4K, growing by 554.6%. The platforms also attracted new followers, with 396 follows and a net growth of 361 followers.
Another important indicator was the ability to reach audiences beyond the existing Paddle Europe community. In one of the analysed periods, 80.3% of views came from non-followers, showing that Paddle Europe content is increasingly reaching new audiences and helping promote paddling beyond its traditional base.
Together, these results show the growing value of digital coverage for European paddling. With three Championships in June, almost 1.6 million social media views, more than 67,000 YouTube views, nearly 22,000 hours watched and hundreds of new followers and subscribers, Paddle Europe’s digital platforms played an important role in bringing the sport closer to athletes, clubs, national federations and fans.
These results are even more relevant considering that the YouTube data only reflects the live coverage available on Paddle Europe’s own channel. With the Sprint, Paracanoe and Masters Championships broadcast under ICF rights, the full digital footprint of Paddle Europe’s June events was certainly wider than the numbers presented through the federation’s own platforms.
The 2026 Paddle Europe Marathon Championships were therefore not only a major sporting event on the water, but also a strong digital success. The numbers confirm that canoe marathon has a loyal and engaged audience, and that high-quality live coverage remains one of the most powerful tools to increase the visibility of European paddling.
