On the final day of competition, European nations claimed 12 gold, 8 silver and 8 bronze medals, winning 28 of the 45 medals available. It was another clear demonstration of Europe’s depth across the full programme, from Olympic sprint events to paracanoe finals.

Final day highlights

Germany started the day strongly, with Jacob Schopf winning the K1 Men 500m ahead of Czechia’s Josef Dostál. Spain also celebrated an early victory through Sara Ouzande, who won the K1 Women 200m, while Denmark’s Frederikke Moercke added bronze in the same event.

Ukraine’s Liudmyla Luzan continued her excellent international season with victory in the C1 Women 200m. After her strong performances at the 2026 Paddle Europe Championships in Montemor-o-Velho, Luzan once again showed her quality on the world stage.

In paracanoe, Great Britain added two more gold medals. Emma Wiggs won the VL2 Women 200m, while Hope Gordon took victory in the VL3 Women 200m ahead of France’s Elea Charvet. Spain also reached the paracanoe podium through Juan Valle, who claimed bronze in the KL3 Men 200m.

Hungary enjoyed another impressive final day, taking victories in the C2 Men 500m, C1 Women 5000m and C1 Men 5000m. Kristof Kollar and Istvan Juhasz won the C2 Men 500m, while Zsofia Csorba and Balazs Adolf delivered two more Hungarian gold medals in the long-distance canoe events.

The men’s kayak crew events also brought more European success. Serbia’s Zarko Jakovljevic and Marko Dragosavljevic won the K2 Men 500m, ahead of Slovakia’s Samuel Balaz and Adam Botek, with Norway’s Lucas Roesten and Gunnar Eide completing an all-European podium.

Poland added another gold medal in the K2 Women 500m, with Anna Pulawska and Martyna Klatt taking victory ahead of China and Italy. In the long-distance kayak events, Sweden’s Melina Andersson won the K1 Women 5000m, while Portugal’s Fernando Pimenta closed the competition with victory in the K1 Men 5000m ahead of Denmark’s Mads Pedersen and Spain’s Javier Lopez,winning is second gold.

European medal totals

After three finals days in Montreal, European nations finished with 64 medals from 105 available, combining sprint and paracanoe results. The final European total was 24 gold, 19 silver and 21 bronze medals, representing more than 60% of all podium places across the finals programme.

The official sprint medal table also confirmed Europe’s strength, with European nations winning 49 of the 72 medals available in the sprint events. Hungary finished on top of the sprint medal table with 5 gold medals, while Spain, Portugal, Germany, Serbia, Ukraine, Czechia, Poland, Italy and Sweden all claimed gold during the competition.

Looking ahead to Poznań

With the 2026 ICF Canoe Sprint and Paracanoe World Championships approaching in Poznań, Poland, in August, Montreal provided another important international benchmark. For European athletes and national teams, the World Cup confirmed strong form, deep competition across several nations, and clear momentum heading into the biggest global event of the season.
