Maxime Beaumont, an Olympic medallist in the 200m discipline, became European champion in the men's kayak 40–44 age group. In a closely contested race, he crossed the finish line in 37.036 seconds, just 0.070 seconds ahead of Taras Valko (AIN). In the men's kayak 45–49 age group, Italy's Federico Canizzo took victory ahead of Belgium's Wim Eerdekens and Aliaksei Karastsialiou (AIN).

One age category higher, in the men's kayak 50–54 group, Germany's Torsten Reuter was the fastest over the 200m distance, posting a time of 38.919 seconds. France's Christian Ducloix finished second, while Italy's Gabriele Bortolotto claimed third place.

Romania's Ioachim Hascu won gold in the 55–59 age group, finishing half a second ahead of Spain's Jorge Navarro and Viatcheslav Rubanau (AIN), who took third place.

Denmark's Per Selchau was the fastest competitor in the men's kayak 60–64 category. Joining him on the podium were Poland's Slawomir Skrety and Belgium's Bart Stalmans.

In the men's kayak 65–69 age group, Ukraine's Volodymyr Sabatov secured victory over the 200m distance with a margin of more than two seconds. Spain's Gerardo Hueva and Ventura Gullen finished second and third respectively.

Several races that did not count towards official European Championship titles were also held, while additional Masters events are scheduled for Sunday.
